About Dr. Suzanne L.
Medina
Dr. Medina is currently a professor of Graduate Education
at California State University, Dominguez Hills. There she
instructs courses in second language acquisition, ESL
(English as a Second Language) methodology, testing and
assessment of second language learners. She completed an
MA in Linguistic, Psycholinguistic and Sociolinguistic
Aspects of Second Language Acquisition at the University
of California and a Ph.D. in Instructional Technology
(Specialization: Second language Instructional Design) at
the University of Southern California. For nearly thirty
years, she has worked as a teacher, college and university
professor, researcher and consultant for such
organizations as the National Science Foundation, and the
U.S. Department of Labor. Throughout her professional
career, Dr. Medina has focused her attention on the
identification and development of time-efficient (i.e.,
accelerative) methods, strategies and techniques for
instructing second languages. Her primary areas of
